Making comfortable space within you...

Wednesday's class explored the challenges of rooting to our hearts first, and how our yoga can teach us to infuse each asana with the spirit, with our desire to open.
As Kathleen pointed out so eloquently, many of us struggle with handstands in our yoga practice, often they can feel elusive, difficult and frustrating. We can feel these same emotions and "handstands" in relationships, in situations, and in our own bodies. Our challenge on and off the mat is how to get comfortable with what is. What our handstand is, today, in this moment. Comfort doesn't mean lax or loose, using elegant physical alignment of the poses can bring more opportunity to create the most ideal container to express the spirit. Think of a jellyfish, loosey goosey on the inside, right? But there's this amazing, elegant form that allows them to undulate, and float so gracefully and...inspire.

Asana which we loosely translate to "pose" in english, actually translates to "comfortable seat". Our asanas teach us how to more congruently bring our hearts, minds and bodies together into union (english translation of yoga). This congruence can bring us much peace off the mat too. Let your practice today be about taking a comfortable seat in your unique resplendence. really.

namaste.
