Gratitude is.

Strange times...I taught a class recently about finding gratitude not only in the easy things, but working towards it in the most painful, difficult and traumatic experiences. About five hours later, I was on my way to Chicago for a family emergency. Living my lesson came more immediately than I imagined. My gram is 94, full of sparkle and laughter, and her body is weakening...unevenly stable and fragile, evolving day to day. I am learning that gratitude can be the catalyst for learning how to be in this moment, really, and figuring out how letting go of things you love. In her book of essays "Small Wonders" Barbara Kingsolver (Im paraphrasing for sure), talks about going to rivers and watching water move to let the sediments of her heart shift into a more peaceful arrangement. For me, this often can happen on my mat (hip openers and backbends, and more of 'em!). How do you let go? Do you?
Blessings to you as you shift the sediments around...
